Storm Damage Repair
When there is a big storm there is always a chance that some debris can hit the roof and cause leaks. If you have an old or otherwise compromised gutter system there is also a chance that the amount of water that came down on that day essentially burst the system. Sometimes the damage is evident and sometimes you don’t realize that you have a problem until later on. Therefore, it’s usually a good idea. We need to appropriately assess the damage and from there we’ll let you the steps that we need to take to get the problem fixed.
Who Do I Need To Call?
Whenever people have a storm damage their roofing it can be hard to decide who you need to call first. Do you need to call the emergency services otherwise known as 9-1-1? Well, that depends if there is debris in the middle of the street, or if you’re hurt in some way, yes. For the most part though, the answer is no. They can certainly make the process a bit less smooth. Do you need to call your insurance company? That can be a good call, you can also call us directly. We’ll be able to work things out with your insurance company if need be. 9-1-1 though, is a call you should probably only make if you’re hurt.
The first thing that we’re going to be doing when we arrive is providing an evaluation of the damage. Here is where we can determine what options we feel you have to get the problem fixed. In major cases we will typically suggest considerable replacement procedures. This is if we find broken shingles everywhere and damage to the underlayment, gutters, and the entire outline of the roof. We’ve worked on some very tough cases. That doesn’t mean though that your situation is going to be a lost cause every time.
When Can You Start The Repairs?
This is actually a very question when it comes to storm damage. A lot of times we’re not going to be able to get too much done in the middle of the storm. That doesn’t mean that we’re going to leave you almost without a roof over your head until the weather gets better. Sometimes what we’ll do is install provisional solutions. These are just ways to be able to quickly plug up major holes and leaks. Once the storm sort of passes we can come in and finish the job.
